ODU Cheerleading
The Old Dominion University cheering squad is a safe, professional and athletic program. The squad is comprised of student-athletes who are committed to one another and to promoting spirit within and outside of the university. The squad performs at all men's and women's home basketball games. Throughout the year, the Monarch cheerleaders also perform at public functions and school events.
The famed mascot of ODU is "Big Blue." This crowned Monarch is present at all homes games for fans to enjoy. Big Blue is always ready for pictures and entertainment before and during the games. Throughout the year, Big Blue attends special coordinated events throughout the community. Big Blue is available for grand openings, public school events, birthday parties and promotional activities.
ODU cheerleaders are required to maintain a 2.0 grade point average each semester he or she is enrolled as a full time student. All cheerleaders are required to participate in a strength-training program including weights and cardiovascular activity.
