Defending National Champion Lady Monarchs Prepare for the NCAA Tournament
NORFOLK, VA. - Eight-time national champion Old Dominion University prepares to defend its crown this weekend with the first two rounds of NCAA Tournament action. The #7-ranked Lady Monarchs will travel to Maryland and take on Virginia in the first round game Saturday at 1:30 pm. Should they win, the Lady Monarchs will play the winner of Maryland/Lafayette Sunday at 2 pm.
Old Dominion is the only school in field hockey history to qualify for each of the 19 NCAA Tournaments since its inception. The Lady Monarchs have won an unprecedented eight trophies, most recently winning in 1998. Old Dominion is led by 1998 Dita/NFHCA National Coach of the Year Beth Anders and three-time Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year Marina DiGiacomo.
